The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has announced that it will offer nearly 850 additional domestic flights, with up to 155,600 seats from January 7 until February 12, 2012 to meet the surge in air travel demand during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.

Over 88,000 seats will be available for passengers travelling between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, 52% more than the usual capacity and up 16% against the same period last year.

Around 54,200 additional seats will be offered to passengers flying from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, and vice versa, an increase of 71% over the usual capacity and up 25% compared to the same period last year.

The national flag carrier will also arrange additional flights on five other air routes departing from Ho Chi Minh City to Hai Phong, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku, Quy Nhon and Nha Trang.
